Consumers are increasingly interested in products that are marketed as “natural,” “organic,” “non-GMO,” “environmentally friendly,” “healthy,” and “humanely raised.”

Producers often use labels, terms, and certifications to verify that their products are indeed grown or produced in ways that align with consumer preferences. There are many such labels and certifications, and the variety often creates confusion.

UGA Family and Consumer Sciences Agent Barbara Worley explains the most commonly used labels and certifications to help you better understand what each one means, so you can make more informed choices.

The Farm to Table series is presented by UGA Extension and is intended for adults. Advance registration is required.
