Red Ribbon Week will be promoted in Forsyth County Schools October 23-31. What should parents know to support their children and help them make healthy choices? Deputy Kevin Ferraro from Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will educate you about the drug use issues in our county. Mitch Durdle from Gateway Academy will speak about the help that is available to kids struggling with drug use and their families.

Deputy First Class Kevin Ferraro is a 12-year veteran officer with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. He began his career in Law Enforcement with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) in 2007. He worked as a Deputy Sheriff in the Jail until January of 2008 when he became a patrol officer. After six years of patrol, Deputy Ferraro was transferred to the Community Relations Unit. During his time in Community Relations, Deputy Ferraro has been selected as Deputy of the Year two times and has also received a Respect for Law Award from the Optimist Club. Deputy Ferraro is currently the supervisor of the Community Relations Unit and loves building long-lasting relationships with his community.

Mitch Durdle is from Peoria, Illinois and has been in long term recovery since 2013. Currently, Mitch is the drug and alcohol counselor at the Gateway Academy in Forsyth County. Prior to working at the Gateway Academy, Mitch was the intensive outpatient counselor in Phoenix, Arizona. Mitch has been working with adolescents and young adults since 2015.
