Sharon Forks Meeting Room

Learn about the evolution of the romance genre from the bodice-rippers of the past to today's books which feature diverse women who take charge of their own lives from four multi-published authors.  If you're interested in writing romance novels or just enjoy the genre, this program is for you.  This program is offered in partnership with Georgia Romance Writers.

Susan Carlisle

Susan Carlisle’s love affair with books began when she made a bad grade in math in the sixth grade. Not allowed to watch TV until she brought the grade up, Susan filled her time with books. She turned her love of reading into a love of writing romance. Susan has currently authored more than twenty-five books for the HarperCollins Harlequin medical imprint. Her Modern Masters of Their Castles trilogy will be out in 2020 under her own imprint. Her books feature strong, vibrant men and the women that challenge them.

In her past life Susan has been a full time mother to four children, a high school substitute teacher and now when she isn’t writing she is busy being a fun grandmother. She lives near Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband of over thirty-five years. Susan loves castles, traveling, sewing and reads voraciously. Visit her at www.SusanCarlisle.com

Jillian Neal

National Bestselling author Jillian Neal likes her coffee strong and sweet, with a shot of sinful spice, the same way she likes her heroes. Her caffeine addiction is quite possibly considered illegal in several states. When she’s not writing or reading, you’ll find her in the kitchen trying out new recipes or coming up with reasons to purchase yet another handbag. Though she’ll always be a Bama girl at heart, Jillian hangs up her hat and kicks up her boots outside of Atlanta with her hunk-of-a-husband and her teenage sons.

Vanessa Riley

Vanessa Riley writes Regency Romances and Historical Fiction of dazzling multi-culture communities with powerful persons of color. Vanessa writes for historical romance readers who admire and acquire books that showcase women who find joy in sweeping kisses and strong sisterhoods. Even in the darkness, she promises to give you laughs and to show you how light always prevails and how love always, always wins.

Vanessa juggles mothering a teen, cooking for her military-man husband, and speaking at women's and STEM events. She's known for her sweeping romances and humorous delivery of poignant truths. You can catch her writing from the comfort of her southern porch with a cup of Earl Grey tea.

Tracy Solheim

After years of writing reports and testimony for Congress, Tracy Solheim decided to put her creative talents to better use. She’s a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary sports romance, romantic suspense, and small town women’s fiction. When she’s not writing, she’s practicing her curling—bottles of wine, that is. She’s been known to cook dinner, but no more than two nights in a row. Most days, she’d rather be reading, which to her is just necessary research. She lives in the suburb of Atlanta with her husband and a neurotic Labrador retriever. Her two adult children visit, but not often enough. (See the note above about cooking.) Check out what she’s up to next at www.tracysolheim.com
