An HBCU is an institution of higher learning that was established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and many African American students still choose to attend these historic institutions of learning today.

Getchel Caldwell, Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement and University Relations at Clark Atlanta University, explains the history and relevance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Celebrating African-American History is sponsored by FCPL Friends & Advocates.
